Events & Programs

  • Bethel’s largest event is our twice-a-year Pig Pickin’, hosted every April and October. With slow-cooked NC barbecue and plenty of sides, the Pig Pickin’ unites our membership to bless our community. All proceeds are shared with those in need in our area.

  • The United Society of Friends Women affords the ladies of our congregation a chance to unite behind a variety of needs and projects.

  • The men of Bethel meet for breakfast every fifth Sunday for conversation and fellowship.

  • A very active Christian Education Committee encourages a youth-led service every fifth Sunday. This committee is also involved in planning numerous activities during the year, including meals and social events.

  • The Friends Disaster Service offers a chance for members to participate in recovery efforts by helping those affected by natural disasters across the country.

  • Jamaica Missions, and the Friends Center for Native Americans (based in McIntosh, AL), occupy our commitment to missions, along with continuing work teams who visit Mexico.

  • Quaker Lake, a summer camp and conference center near Julian, NC, provides opportunities for our youth, and hosts our annual gathering of Friends at Yearly Meeting in August.
